When i was younger we lived in rather a big house. There was always stuff going on, it became the norm to us.

Once i can remember waking up and seeing a young man stood at the end of my room, as if he was looking for something. I saw this man again when i changed bedrooms to share with my sister. I woke up and saw him stood at the door, in the morning my sister said he saw him too.

Other things would be sitting in the dining room where there was an old clock, that never worked, but then you would just start to here it ticking. although it had no batteries in it.

Also there was a time when i was really young, my brother and sisters and parents were all in the garden playing in the sun, when my mum sent my sister upstairs to get her tshirt, she came back downstairs to say she couldnt find it, so my mum sent here up again, and yet again she said she came down and couldnt find it. Thats when it came flying out here bedroom window. There was no one in the house at the time.

Theres so many more to say i just couldnt fit them all in, like the iron moving across the window on its own, or the shower switching on, and the radio. My brothers toys just lined themselves up. So so many!

I kinda miss the house now im not there, safe to say i never ever felt threatened by what was happening, always found it a comfort. Strange.

When I was about 3 or 4 we used to live in an old building that was once a small village school. Supposedly I would chat away to someone and my mum would ask who I was talking to and I would reply an old lady that used to teach there. This happened many times and I was never distressed or anything but it freaked my parents out so they eventually called a medium in I think it was to cleanse the place as such and the lady vanaished. Unfortunately and annoyingly I dont remember any of this and am going on what my mum has told me. I just wish there was a way a could try to bring back these memories, if they are still there as I would really like to remember the woman and her visits.

Someone mentioned pets on the first page - when my cat died for weeks after I thought I could still hear him miowing at the front door, asking to be let in. Whenever I opened the door however there wouldnt be anything there. It brought me comfort thinking that he was still around but it was also sad too. After time it stopped.

I have seen a ghost of a cat at my dad's house, well, the back half of a cat. Whilst sitting on the toilet I looked up and saw the back end of a black cat with its tail up in the air as it walked through the door that was shut! On a different day my boyfriend also saw the same black cat doing the same thing. We both only ever saw it the once though which is a shame, but we still keep an eye out for it whenever we visit.

That is interesting and nice as your pets like people always stay near.It is not a sad thing as they are just like you or me and routine is what they are all about just as in spirit they will still do everything that they used to while on the Earth.

It is always on the toilet you ask and the amount of people that will tell you that they are visited while on the toilet.Funny as it may seem everyone has to use the toilet at sometime and as i have just said routine habits die hard.

The teacher apparition was good, as it is when you are young that you are more likley to experience spirit before the negative world gets to you and you start to get to lose that gift that ywe are all born with.

When I was young we lived on Cromford Street off Melbourne Road in a Terraced house. I must have been around six or seven years old and I slept in the room at the back. You went down a couple of steps into the room and my bed was behind the door. There was a big old chest of drawers opposite my bed. I woke up one night and saw a man standing by the chest. He was not very tall and had dark hair and a moustache. He was wearing striped pj's and smoking a cigarette and he was looking at me smiling. I thought it was my dad and spoke to him but he did not answer me. I then realised that there was no colour to him, he was all shades of grey and white and it wasn't my dad. I pulled the covers over my head and shouted for my mum. Of course they said I was just dreaming but I wouldn't go to bed after that unless they left the landing light on. I are sure I was not dreaming as I can still see him in my mind now as clear as I did then all these years on. I have had other strange experiences since then but that is the only time I have seen a ghost. I think that is were my fear of the dark started !! They say you should face your fears so that is one of the reasons I want to do the vigils, just so long as I don't end up with a heart attack affraid Very Happy

My brother reminded me the other day of another strange experience I had when i was around 3 years old. My family were living in Leicester while my aunt, uncle and cousin were living in Germany with the armed forces. One night I woke up screaming, adament that there was a policeman trying to take my cousin away. My mum rang my aunt straight up to check everything was ok and found out that my cousin had woken up screaming at virtually the same time saying that there was a man in uniform stood at the end of his bed. After some investigation it was found that the houses they were living in had been used by the SS during the second world war, and apparitions of SS officers had been seen in the houses before.

The strange part is how I knew about it when I was hundreds of miles away affraid

PostSubject: Re: Tell us your stories   Tell us your stories - Page 2 Icon_minitimeWed Jun 04, 2008 8:14 pm

Way back in 1981 or 1982, i lived with my parents in an old Victorian terrace. When we first moved in, the only thing in the house was a black and white photo of 2 oldish ladies dressed in what I consider to be victorian dress. My dad put it in the attic.

One night, I needed a wee (as you do), and I crept out my bedroom and down the corridor alongside the bannister on the landing and into the bathroom which was a huge room, the toilet was right at the other end of the room. I never turned on any lights, and nipped into the toilet as quickly as i could and sat on the loo. I never shut the door either. As I sat there I saw in front of me on the landing corridor, a lady coming towards me. I couldnt see her feet, but she had on a long black dress with a white pinny on it, her hair was tied up in a smart bun on the back of her head. She literally just floated towards me, and stopped at the entrance to the bathroom... I remember being terrified, and finished wat I was doing on the loo. When I looked up again, she had gone. She never spoke, or made any motions to me.

I ran back to my room, back down the same corridor to my room, and jumped into my bed. My bed head was opposite the bedroom door, and my sister couldnt sleep with the door closed so it was always open. I lay there with my blankets pulled right up to my chin too scared to take my eyes off my bedroom door. As i looked, she reappeared in the door frame and looked right at me again... she smiled and vanished. I never saw her again after that.

I was about 11 or 12 when that happened, and my mum claims to have seen her on more than one occasion, my sister never saw her and disbelieves everything I say about her.

I have my own resident spirit living me now at my house where i live with my 2 almost adult sons and 4 yr old. My 4 yr old has just been diagnosed as autistic. One night while my boyfriend Gary was staying with me, we were asleep in bed, and i remember being woken up by him shaking in bed. I turned over and looked at him, and he asked if anything was behind him. I looked but saw nothing. At that point he said to me that Elsie was standing behind him with her hand on his shoulder. She said and I quote verbatim "im worried about her". He never knew her name, he just said it was Elsie.

I wonder if she knew what was happening with my son, as I almost lost him when he had a particularly bad seizure, because as well as being diagnosed as autistic, he was also having severe epileptic seizures, which has seen also been diagnosed, and has a heart murmur too. All 3 were diagnosed in the space of 10 days, and i sank into a terrible depression and was signed off work by the doctor to deal with it all.

So is she watching over me do you think? She lived at my house before me, and died 4 months before I moved in. She is not frightening, just reassuring and looks over my son, as one night he was screaming because of night terrors, and i just loooked into the air, and asked Elsie to look after him that night, he has never had night terrors since.

Im perplexed by it all, but also feel grateful that she keeps a watchful eye on me.

What do you think?

Sorry it was so long to read!!!

Smile One night when i was about 10 i was drifting off to sleep and could see a man standing at the side of my bed, i didnt know him but felt no fear. Later my mum popped her head round the door to see i'd gone to sleep and seeing that i wasnt asked if i was ok. I told her there was an elderly man standing next to my bed and i described what he looked liked. she just smiled and told me he would do me no harm and to go to sleep. Next morning however she showed me a photo of an elderly man. It was the man i'd seen standing next to the bed the previous night. My Grandad who had died before my parents were married.

On another occasion, i dreamt i was out with my dad, we had gone to the doctors and been told my dad was seriously ill and dying of cancer. i was sobbing, the two of us went for a walk and ended up at my Gran's (who had died when i was 11) she was packing a bag with clothes and other things, my dad made her tea in a cup, and he begged me not to tell her that he was ill. I kept quiet. A week later my dad went into hospital for a triple heart bypass, but at the last minute the doctors decided not to go ahead with the op saying it was too dangerous. Later that same week i read the Leicester Mercury and saw that my Uncle (my dads brother) had passed away. He had died of cancer. None of the family knew he was ill!!!!

I have often been aware of smells from being young especially lavender, though the lavender has never been as strong as it was when i got home after the Guildhall.

Sorry for waffling

lol!

Its nice to read of peoples experiences, its sad sometimes if they are unhappy ones, and it intrigues me of peoples reactions. I dont know how I would react if I saw anything as I never have. As far as I am aware, alot of sightings are by children coming up to puberty. I had premonitions once or twice but they stopped after puberty.

Its always fascinating to read and yes Helen, I think the lady is watching over you. Smile

It is quite normal if your home is haunted as you have woken your inner self and know spirit are getting your attention.

it was the morning of my oldest sons first day at secondary school and of course i was so nervous. the thought of him being so far away from me and having to travel there and back on his own was making me feel real stressed...then, suddenly out of the blue, a photo of my grampa holding my son when he was little just fell over on its own...i took it as a sign that my grampa was watching over him and trying to tell me not to worry, ....my nerves calmed almost immediately.

its just a small incident, but i'll never forget it and it meant so much.

This is a common thing that happens with people who have anxieties about children starting school. In your case secondry school.
I would take it as you did and think that he was being watched.

Just a thought though as science is involoved here could it be that when you are so stressed your own thoughts can be that over streched that you yourself could have caused it to react in that way.Psi and all that.A type of mind over matter thing.(Telekinesis)This is also a factor that has been known too.

cripes !...that would be quite weird.
interesting thought though. as i said it was just a small thing. i do get regular 'visits' though, where i sense someone entering my room and sitting on the edge of the bed next to me for a while. it doesnt scare me, but my head tingles .
the first time i was aware of it happening, i didnt physically see anyone, but i saw in my mind it was a young chap, with dark hair, wearing a shirt, and his name was mike or mark. it was on my mind for time, because i felt as though i should just know why he came but i didnt.
the visits i've had since then are different though.
i dont tell people that very often because i think i sound a bit weird.....

A friend of mine is having "trouble" in her house. She knows the spirit of her father is in the house as her young daughter acknowledges him, but just lately my friend is feeling that there is another spirit in the house that does not like her. She feels like the spirit is going to grab her shoulders from behind when she is sitting downstairs, and also feels like she is going to push her down the stairs. She was recently having a bath and as she looked into the mirror she saw a young girl of around five or six years of age, in a white dress walk across the view of the mirror. She is quite frightened of this spirit to the stage of moving out of her house, yet she seems to be a quite recent visitor. She has asked me for help as she knows I go on investigations and isnt really sure what else to do. What can she do to get this little girl to leave her?

My oldest son is real practical, and always gives me weird looks if i talk bout 'ghosts' etc, but last night he told me that he thought he'd seen something yesterday morning. He was sitting on his bed using his laptop and listening to his music, then out the corner of his eye he saw someone walk past his doorway towards my room. He was so convinced that there was someone there that he called out,and went to look who was there.then he went all through the house looking to see if one of us had come home.
But no one was there, and now he thinks he must of seen a ghost.... I know that my other son has also mentioned a couple of times recently seeing 'someone' walk across the bedroom,
I wonder if its the same someone that i get sitting on my bed sometimes....

It is always the best time to start your spiritual journey when you are young as you grow up with that instinct and you do not get frightened of anything paranormal.

Tell us more.

This is good reading.

I have been looking for the 'i'm not quite sure what you'd call this' section, but i'll post it here instead for now. Yesterday afternoon I spent an hour or so with my mum, aunty, and their cousin ...they're all in their 70's and were reminiscing about their childhood etc. I
just sat quietly listening, and i was getting very strong feelings and could sense the presence of my grandma,it was very powerful,i also felt as though aunty florence was there too,she is my grandmas sister, and mother of my mums cousin ,in fact when their cousin was talking about a recent holiday with his grandchildren i sensed a really happy feeling from aunty florence, and it made me smile and feel happy myself. I really cant put my finger on it,but it was as though the 3of them being together in the same room made the connection so intense it was quite incredible. I got the tingly head thing again too,and felt dizzy a couple of times
. I really dont know which category this should go in.

My Nephew is 6, lives in blackpool and he has been in leicester staying with my mum for a couple of weeks.

My oldest daughter knows that i go out ghost hunting and she has been telling him about it.

Anyway i came home from work today and he came up to me and said

"Auntie Mandy? Do you no how you no ghost people well i think one of your friends might come to my house".
I just said that i didnt think so and i asked him why he thought that and he said

" Well sometimes when i wake up in the night theres a lady in a dress that sits in the corner of my bedroom and waves at me. She only stays for a minute then she just goes".

I was like "Oh my god" so i asked him how many times he had seen her and he said "Only a few times in my new house but i saw her lots in the old one".

What do you think to that?

I think that is brilliant and with him talking about it reminds me of me when i was young. Let him talk and ask him how he feels and how it helps him from day to day.

Ask things like

What is she wearing, what colour is her hair, what colour eyes does she have, has she told you anything, does she bekon you or show you anything.

Is she nice, tall small big thin.

tell him that she is only trying to say hello and if he wants to he might be able to talk to her.

This could also be his guide.

Im going to see him in a bit so i'll sit and have a chat see what i can find out.

I was gobsmacked when he told me. (doesnt happen very often)
He didnt seem scared or anything and he was quite happy to talk about it.

Think if i had carried on talking to him i would of found out more but i was in shock i think!
He did say though that he told his mum but she said he was telling fibs and told him to stop being silly.
My sister in law isnt an understanding person so that doesnt surprise me but think because hes heard what i do its got him thinking.
Think im the only person he has really spoken to about it.

I'll let you no how i get on with him.

Right then i had a bit of a chat and this is what i got out of him.

He said this lady just sits there and not say anything but he didnt get scared. He said that ages ago he said hello to her and thats when she started waving at him.

He said the lady sits on a chair in his bedroom in the corner but he said she brings
a chair because he hasnt got one.

I asked him what her hair was like and he said it was short but he didnt no what colour and then i asked him what colour her eyes were and it freaked me out!

He said she had funny eyes. One green and one blue!
It made me cry because my grandma which is his great-grandma had those exact colour eyes and no way would he of none that! I told my mum and she just said
"i knew it was my mum".

Ive told him that i thought i might no who it was and i told him she is a lovely lady and she was just coming to say hello to him. Ive told him to talk to her and she might talk back but if she didnt then it didnt matter.
He said that his mummy didnt listen about the lady so ive told him to ring me and i will listen to him.

How strange is that?
Lee have i asked and said the right things?

Didnt want to ask him too much about her but saying that he was quite happy to talk about it.
