Lapis Lazuli means 'Sky Stone', from the Latin 'lapis' meaning 'stone' and the Persian 'lazward' meaning 'blue' or 'sky'. It has been used since at least 5000BC, and was very poular with many ancient cultures.

Lapis Lazuli has many uses in crystal therapy. Its many uses include eye strain, difficult pregnancies, difficulty in expressing yourself and relaxation.

For eye strain place a piece of Lapis Lazuli in water, then use the solution to bathe your eyes. While the stone is in the water, say 'Stone of heaven, beloved of the gods, give me clear vision'.

If you are pregnant wear a piece of Lapis Lazuli around or near the waist to protect the unborn child.

If you have trouble expressing yourself and saying what you really feel anoint a piece of Lapis Lazuli with cedar oil, and ask for help in expressing yourself.

There are many ways in which Lapis Lazuli can be used to help relaxation. It can be held or worn during meditation to stop your mind from wandering. If you find yourself easily distracted from what you are doing think of Lapis Lazuli and focus on its gold flecks in your minds eye. this will bring your focus and attention back.

Lapis Lazuli can help with insomnia if worn as a pendent or placed under the pillow.
