The Firs Conservative Club
28th August 2009
We arrived at the club around 9 pm, as we had to wait for the club to close, we had a social.
Lee had arrived earlier in the evening to complete the base line tests and to take photos.
While we were waiting both Bex and Laura heard what sounded like whispering coming from around the area we were sitting in however this later turned out to be the speakers located at the back of us on the wall.
When the pub closed we waited for one of the local ladies to join us then had a guided tour from Jeff, whose family have been running the club for many years, photos were taken by Stella and anybody else who wished to, while being shown around..
Lee opened everybody up on our return then we headed down to the snooker room.
The snooker room consisted of 2 pool tables in the middle of the room, with chairs stacked in the bottom left hand side and a small wooden bench in the bottom right.
Most of the group gathered in between the two pool tables, while Lee stood near the door and Jeff & Nigel stood at the back of the room.
Lee called out and not long after people were saying that were being touched, Lee then went on to ask if anybody had any names that had come in to their head, the name Cartwright was then mentioned.
Dawn said that she felt really happy and as though she wanted to dance, which the rest of the group encouraged her to do.
During the vigil Jeff said that his dad was in the room with us, I believe this was connected to the way that Dawn was feeling as he loved parties and dancing.
Shadows were said to have been seen moving around the room especially at the bottom of the room where the chairs were stacked, Lee asked if anybody would like to go and stand there so Vix volunteered, we turned a torch on at this point so Vix could see where she was going.
Angie had earlier felt drawn to the bottom right hand corner so she decided that now was a good time to go, however she didn’t want to go alone so Max offered to go with her, where they both sat on the wooden bench.
While sitting there, they both heard a noise which sounded like a cow’s Moo, Jeff later went on to tell Lee that his dad had in fact had a joke machine that made cow noises which he used to scare his friends with.
Angie & Max also felt breezes around their arms and legs, and Angie was poked a couple of times.
Tapping noises were heard around the room, which mainly seemed to come from the pool tables.
Stella felt like there was a dog in the room as she also felt breezes around her leg and could actually feel it brushing against her trouser legs.
Nat noticed something on the floor beside her, so the a torch was turned on so we could see what it was, we were shocked to find a pool cue, as there hadn’t been one anywhere in the room when we went in, let alone one that could have fell on the floor beside her without her knowing….
Could this be a sign of things to come?
When we called out again the room seemed to go quiet so we moved on.
The cellar was made up of two rooms either side of each other, at the bottom of a corridor.
The group gathered in the right hand side room, but as Trace, Jeff & Nigel found it too cramped they decided to investigate the left hand side, Maz felt agitated not long after she had come into the room so she sat at the back of everybody else against the wall, Dawn also joined her.
We called out and again people mentioned being touched virtually straight away.
After about 5 minutes, Trace & co came rushing back into the room where they told us that they had heard tapping noises and chains rattling in the other room.
We called out again when Nigel mentioned that he could hear footsteps in the corridor and that somebody was also moving about.
We turned a torch on to check that there wasn’t anybody in the corridor, it was then that it was noticed that we had all moved into the middle of the room and had all huddled together.
Laura was standing behind Mandy with her head on her back when Mandy noticed that she was falling forward so Nat asked her if she was ok, Laura had been channelled at this point as she shouted at Laura to “Get lost”, Nat replied with “ok” and yet again got shouted at, Laura’s eyes had also turned black and had glazed over.
Laura returned back to normal and seemed confused as to what had happened.
Dawn was very quiet during the vigil until she announced that we weren’t in the room alone, she told us that there was a group of men in the room similar to the stone masons, who were all wearing hoods and sharpening knives, she then went onto tell us that the men didn’t want us there and if we stayed there would be trouble, as there were tools in the room Lee was concerned that someone might get hurt so we decided to end the vigil there and take a short break.
Main bar area
During the break Trace started to pace up and down, in the bar area.
A few members of the group were sitting in the chairs near the bar, while we were there movement was seen at the other end of the room so we decided to move to the long bench that was beneath the window to get a better look.
When we got there we thought it would be a good idea to try glass divination as there were 3 tables directly in front of us, we waited for the other members of the group to join us.
Once everyone was together and gathered round the tables Jeff fetched 3 glasses from the bar and placed one on each table, after explaining what we were about to do, to the lady who had joined us earlier Nat called out.
The glass on the middle table started moving first, followed by the right hand side and finally the left, all 3 glasses stated that it was a female spirit present.
We asked if she had worked at the club to which she answered yes, Max then asked if she had been the landlady, which was correct.
The name Margaret was mentioned so we asked if this was her name she replied that yes it was, another person asked if she’d worn clogs when she was alive and had she fallen down the stairs, the answer was yes to both questions.
Margaret then left, and a person who we had met earlier that night came through again to talk to us…. Jeff’s Dad, in the snooker room Jeff had joked that his dad was around us as he wanted a whiskey even though he didn’t drink it…. his dad however had other ideas!
He had followed us up from the cellar so Max asked him if he wanted his whiskey, the glass pointed straight at the bar and then moved to where Jeff was standing, Jeff then went to the bar and poured out a whisky and placed it on the table, he then went and stood away from the tables where we were conducting the experiment, again the glass went straight to Jeff and wouldn’t move, we asked if Jeff’s dad wanted Jeff to join us at one of the tables and talk to him, the glass moved again to indicate yes so Jeff joined us, he was unsure what to say so he asked if his dad whether he was looking after the families two dogs, his dad mentioned one but not the other.
Mr Abbott seemed happy that he had been given a chance to speak to his son so he left us.
The next spirit to visit us channelled Trace, we heard her sobbing so we asked her who she was, Trace told us that it was a lady called Lilly who had committed suicide as she was pregnant by a married man, the man was called William (?) and was a poet/ writer.
Lilly also mentioned, 20’s, could this be the age when she died or the year? Trace’s appearance had changed and she looked as though she was wearing Victorian mourning clothes.
Lilly left us then so we ended it there and carried on to the next room.
The next room we visited was the committee room which was upstairs, when we first entered the room there were curtains & a door which was still open so all of these were closed to make the room as dark as possible.
We all sat round the table in the middle of the room and rested our fingertips on the table lightly so we could try to attempt table tipping.
Certain members of the group felt the table trembling at the top of the table.
Steps were heard walking around the room, Bex & Laura also felt uncomfortable and as if there was someone standing behind them.
Dawn felt that the men from the cellar were in the room with us again, Trace then went onto confirm this by saying that there had been an unlawful hanging of a man who had been accused of rape, she could see a group of men with fire as torches marching to his house to hang him, only after it was too late did the woman who accused him admit that she cried wolf.
Mandy was channelled by a man, who we could not identify as she had her head down and was mumbling.
Not long after Mandy had come back Lee started to feel different and was then channelled, dawn asked who he was and was told that he was a judge who was the only one to believe that the man was innocent but the rest of the jury wanted to hang him anyway, Dawn and Trace felt that Lee could get violent so they asked Jeff and & Nigel to stand either side of him, Angie and Max were next to him so they were also asked to move back slightly for their own safety, they then went on asking him questions.
The judge carried on to say that he was the one who ordered people to be hanged but that he wouldn’t do his own dirty work, he seemed to enjoy the fact that he was able to do this, Jeff in the mean time had changed slightly and was starting to laugh at everything Lee was saying.
Lee also mentioned the mayor of Leicester.
Dawn then asked who was on the throne at that time, Lee did come out with a name and a year, but Dawn confirmed that it was incorrect ,
Lee suddenly went quiet and shouted “GET LOST” at Max whilst grabbing her arm, he then went on to laugh menacingly.
At this point it was decided that it would be a good time to bring lee back, so we finished it there.
We left the Committee room, and carried on further upstairs to the empty flat, where a previous tenant had lived.
We decided that the first room we would visit would be the living room,
This room when entered received mixed reactions as, half of the group felt happy including Lee who was happily dancing around.
Trace felt annoyed, and the rest of the group just felt neutral.
We called out but didn’t feel as though we were picking anything up so we moved across to the bedroom.
The bedroom was completely empty apart from the base of a divan ain the middle of the room.
A Majority of the group sat on the bed with the remaining people standing around us.,
A lot of the people felt comfortable in here, but as with the living room we didn’t feel anything in particular apart from the bed feeling that someone was jumping up and down in the middle.
At this point, it was starting to get late so a few people in the group decided to call it a night and go home.
Lee, Jeff, Nat, Laura, Angie & vix decided that they thought it was worth going back down into the cellar, so we all headed down there (apart from a couple of people who decided to stay upstairs in the bar)
Cellar x 2
When we went back into the cellar, a couple of us said that we didn’t like the feeling in there so we all huddled together again in the middle of the room,
Max had her bottom patted, Angie, Laura and Lee were also touched which made him cry out.
We all stood in a semi circle, around the small kitchen area.
Almost straight away Max’s hair was flicked., we called out and most of the people there were touched in one way or another.
Angie felt as is someone was kicking her in the back of the knees, and Max mentioned that someone had knocked the side of her leg.
Just as we were about to finish for the evening and were heading for the door, we saw a light flash in the window of the kitchen door, as the men’s toilets were downstairs we thought Nigel had come down, but when we asked him on our return to the bar he said he hadn’t.
We clsed down in the bar and said our goodbyes.
For a first time investigation there was a lot of activity and information coming through, made extra special by the appearance of Jeff’s dad.
Hopefully we will be able to return in the future as this place definitely warrants a return visit.
