Islam was founded in the six century AD by the prophet Mohammed, who preached a monotheistic faith in the Judaeo-christian tradition. Under his leadership the Muslims (meaning those that submit to God's Will) defeated their enemies and established a civerlisation far in advance of that which existed in Europe at the time.
Islam places great emphasis on the afterlife as paradise for the faithful and which it describes in terms that were clearly designed to appeal to nomadic desert people. The garden of paradise (Al-Jannah) are lush and sustained by running streams of crystal clear water, milk and honey.
Being a patriarchal society,Islam promises a multitude of lusty willing maidens for Righteous males, but no mention is made of the reward awaiting virtuous women. The garden is a veritable Alladins cave of precious stones in which all wishes are granted and this is the key to islamic paradise. Al- Jannah will be whatever you want it to be.
