When I was a teenager, many moons ago, my friends family ran the Barley Mow for quite a few years and I used to stay there all the time. It is very different inside now to how it used to be. There used to be a large room upstairs at the back of the building which had a lot of old stuff in it like pianos. chairs, tables, posters, Forresters Lodge things etc. We were not allowed in there because of all the stuff. We used to open the door and sneak just inside sometimes, the room did have a strange feeling to it.
The first floor of the building had the kitchen, living room, walk in pantry, 1 bedroom and bathroom. Second floor had 4 bedrooms. the kitchen was on the side and the living room overlooked Granby Street. You used to go in the door on the front of the poperty (which is now blocked off) to get to the living quarters. There was a corridor with the snug bar at the end and the main bar was on the right. I don't recall ever seeing anything there but it could be very spooky at night in the dark because of the narrow landings with steps up and down and doors going off. To be honest, being a teenager I don't think I would have noticed anything much, to busy listening to music and talking about boys
It would be interesting to do a vigil here because of my association with the place. My friends father who was the landlord for a number of years is now deceased so maybe he would come through.
