PostSubject: The Goddess of Dreams.   Sun Apr 13, 2008 11:05 am

Selene, the Goddess of Dreams, is known by many names through different cultures, but her association with dreams is always constant, along with her desire to help those who ask for aid.

Selene is an aspect of the Greek Triple Goddess and is associated with dreams through here joint rulership of the Moon. Artemis governs the new Moon, Selene embodies the full Moon and Hecate rules the Dark Moon. Selene was the daughter of Hyperion and Theia who were among the first Titan gods and she was the sister of Helios, the Sun god, and Eos, the Dawn; the Romans knew her as Diana and Luna.

Selene was depicted as a beautiful, young woman wearing white or silver robes, with a cresent moon on her forehead. Selene travelled the sky in a silver chariot pulled by white horses or oxen, casting her radiance on the Earth.

The dreams that come through Selene bring messages that carry solutions to problems, so her help can be sought when you are feeling stuck.
