PostSubject: Aboriginal Dreamtime   Sun Apr 13, 2008 10:50 am

The Aborigines believe that Dreamtime is the original time. It is where their lives began, connecting them to the land, the ancestors and the spirits.

During the Dreamtime the ancestral spirits created the Sun, Moon and starts, the sky and the planets. They travelled across the formless land, giving it shapes, creating rivers and mountains, plants and animals. Th ancestral spirits made the laws and created the Dreaming Tracks, which connect all creatures to the world and define the links between the tribespeople and their landscape.

With the creation of the world complete, the ancestral spirits then transformed themselves, melting into the landscape in the places that became sacred. Their legacy is the 'belonging place', a spiritual land created for the Aboriginal clans during the sacred Dreamtime. Dreaming stories passed down through the generations, which teach the wisdom of the ancestors to the young. These oral narrative also explain the characteristics and qualities of the belonging place.

Aboriginal ceremonies to access the belonging place, include the use of sacred musical instruments and ritual dances that enable them to become one with the Dreaming.
